Evening everyone, I’m Richard Lord. Welcome to the Richard Lord Online YouTube channel. Tonight I am going to be talking about change and action. So what’s happened this week with me is I’ve joined a gym. Running for me just isn’t working purely on its own. I’m not losing the weight I want to do so I want to do something different and change it up a bit to try and lose this weight. I want to lose a fair bit of weight this year, maybe 15kg possibly if I can do that over 10, 11, 12 months. I think it is doable if I go at it in a different way. So something that is really important for me to realise is that to get a different output, you need to do something different. You need to change what you are doing. If you put the same in, you get the same out. You need to do something different.
Also at work I want to go a different route. I want to be able to change my career. I want to work out what I want to do, what I am good at, what I’d like to do longer term. At my age, I want to see what I want to be doing for the next 5,10,15 years after that and see which way I want to go. So again, its an area of change and you’ve got to think ‘How do you go about doing that? How do I go about changing my weight and my exercise regime? How do I change my work and my career path?’ How do you go about doing that?
So I’ve come up with an idea. And it’s around this premise here. If you want to be a man of action – an action man, you need to have an action plan! So you’ve got to know what you want to do, those small steps to get you where you want to be in the end. You might not know where you’re going to be in five years’ time but you can put things down, something in place what you can do this month, during February, you can put this something down as to what I want to do in the next one to two months. You can work out little steps like going to speak to people as to what they think, trying to do a bit of networking, trying to find out what opportunities there are out there, what skillsets they think would be useful, and that kind of thing. You can do lots in the short term to get to where you want to be in the long term. It’s not just applying for this or applying for that, or saying I want to lose 15kg, its about putting those small steps in place. What can you do now to get you closer to where you want to be in the long run.
So, that’s pretty much that for this week. My update is that I have joined the gym – I’m starting to do some gym work there as well as my running. I’m not cutting out the running, just changing my weekly routine on that side of it. I’m looking for ideas for different careers and a different work path from here onwards and I’m setting up my action plan for both of those to see what I can do so you’ll hear more about that in the coming weeks.
