Christmas Tree Of The Day or #ctotd as it is also known!
In 2013, I noticed that Christmas Trees were starting appearing in public places earlier and earlier. Leeds Trinity shopping centre out theirs up on display on 5th November! A bit earlier than most people would think to put theirs up.
I set myself a challenge to take a photo of a Christmas Tree or Christmas Tree shape every day from that day, November 5th up til Christmas Day.
It was harder than I thought as I don’t go many places other than for my normal routine. There were 51 days to go. The challenge was set.
Each day I was hunting around for Christmas Trees or Christmas Tree shapes to photograph and post online. Friends were asking me what the next day’s #ctotd would be.
What made it hard was that a number of Christmas Trees in shops and hotels either had an overly corporate tree or were in busy areas where I couldn’t get a photo due to people being in the way all the time.
I completed my challenge and whilst some of the photos weren’t ideal – one had to be a gingerbread Christmas Tree in a baker’s shop one day as I had ran out of trees and it was still November – I decided I would fine tune the challenge for future years so it started on December 1st.
Each year since then, Christmas Tree Of The Day has commenced on 1st December. I have a loyal group of friends who eagerly look out for #ctotd each year and an equally predictable group of friends who not so eagerly comment on it too! That’s Christmas – it brings out all kinds of views! 😂
